Day three Gold Coast – Manly

[singlepic id=8 w=320 h=240 float=none]
I miss my partner, doing this solo is just not as fun. I arranged to stay at Port Macquarie Backpackers and highly regret it. This is by far the worst place I have ever been and the manager, Tony was mean and cruel. NEVER STAY HERE. On a better note, Michael at Gordon Street Cycles across the road was awesome and their expert team gave my gears a tweak and tune!

While I was writing that last bit, Nic called and arranged another lodging – at Aston Hill! Yay! Can get a sleep, thanks Nic!! I didn’t realize riding these distances would be so hard. It’s not hard on the legs, it’s hardest mentally. I think it’s the mental strain that requires recovery, and for me that means a quiet and gentle space, kind people.

I really don’t understand why some people are ok to go out of their way to be mean? I got yelled at by some drivers today, and this manager at the hostel was going out of his way to be disrespectful to me. I’m really thinking about this, did I invite disrespectful by first showing it? Or did he just have a bad day and I’m an easy target? I don’t know, but it’s no fun, I need to invite fun back into this trip, cause at the moment it’s not scoring very high. I’ll meditate on the respect thought and hopefully with a good rest tomorrow will be better! XxKristina

  • Hang in there Kristina. Travelling those long distances your bound to come across all kinds of characters.

Don't let the buggers get ya down. You're doing an amazing thing.

Hugs, smiles and the warmest hospitality await you here in Manly.

  • Oh mate, people are nasty because their own lives are so miserable, they can't stand to see other people happy. You are smiley, friendly and lovely so you show up their mean, miserable lives even more, so they try to squish that light right out! So just you keep shining and keep peddling.

But please stop staying in mingin' hostels.

    All the love Claire xo
